Studies have shown that itraconazole inhibits the growth of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma by targeting the 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase 1 (HMGCS1) and acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) (HMGCS1/ACSL4) axis, depending on the integrated analysis of transcriptomic and proteomic results [19]. This evidence concerns the gene ACSL4 and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
