Among 3028 patients diagnosed with an IMID across six European countries, 891 of whom were diagnosed with RA, a comprehensive research study concluded that higher concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP) (OR 1.18, 95% CI; p = 0.0063) and a higher number of recent disease flares (OR 1.27, p = 0.030) were associated with an increased risk of symptomatic COVID-19. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and rheumatoid arthritis.
