GPX4 and liver disorder: Given that the results of our study show that polydatin is highly effective in decreasing lipid peroxidation in liver mitochondria exposed to iron overload (Figure 1), and that polydatin has been shown to decrease lipid peroxidation in the liver and to increase glutathione levels [21], this allows us to propose that one mechanism of action of polydatin against some of the liver diseases mentioned above [47] is the suppression of the initial steps of ferroptosis by substituting the function of Gpx-4 in the mitochondria and cytosol.
