With the advent and application of gene-editing technology, the CRISPR-Cas9 (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) RNA-guided system has enabled the editing of mutant myocilin, which accumulates in and around the trabecular meshwork in some glaucoma patients, with the potential to lower intraocular pressure (IOP).
