Recently, it was found that the expression level of the lncRNA MAPT-AS1 is negatively correlated with the expression of protein of Tau, and MAPT-AS1 exerts a critical regulatory influence on the translation of Tau proteins by engaging in competitive ribosome binding at the ribosome entry site in the mRNA of MAPT, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism for the complex process of lncRNAs in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases [76]. Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
