Another enzyme involved in the nucleotide sugar metabolism, UDP-glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH), which catalyzes the oxidation of UDP-glucose to UDP-glucuronate, was shown to be upregulated in highly metastatic ovarian cancer TOV21G cells (established from stage 3 clear cell ovarian carcinoma [71]) and in tissue samples excised from clear cell carcinoma and mucinous ovarian carcinoma [72]. This evidence concerns the gene UGDH and ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma.
