IL-6 overproduction induces the synthesis of positive acute phase reactants (hsCRP, AGPA, ferritin) and the exacerbation of the oxidative degradation of organic macromolecules (nucleic acids, glycoproteins, glycolipids), and the suppression of negative acute phase reactants (albumin, transferrin) and of endogenous antioxidants in PCa patients. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is posterior cortical atrophy.
