Canesin et al. reported that increased galectin-3 staining in bladder urothelial carcinomas was associated with progressive disease and reduced survival, while Kramer et al. found that decreased galectin-3 expression was linked to a higher frequency of recurrence in non-invasive urothelial carcinomas [33,34]. The gene discussed is LGALS3; the disease is bladder transitional cell carcinoma.
