Regarding the protective effect of antidiabetic drugs (e.g, metformin and GLP‐1R agonists) on POAG, prior observational studies have generated conflicting results, and as of yet, no direct correlation between antidiabetic medications and glaucoma endophenotypes (e.g., IOP, central corneal thickness, cup‐disc ratio, or visual field) has been established [8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14]. The gene discussed is GLP1R; the disease is open-angle glaucoma.
