In the multi-ancestry dataset comprising individuals of unknown HIV status (2376 CKD cases and 23 233 controls) [8], we replicated four of eight tested CKD-associated methylation signals (at Bonferroni correction, P < .006; Table 2 and Supplementary Table S3)—cg14849578 in SCARB1, cg22959742 in FRMD4A, cg24791666 in CSRNP1 and cg12769599 near RAB38. This evidence concerns the gene RAB38 and chronic kidney disease.
