NPPB and heart failure: B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) as a clinical biomarker in the assessment of heart failure (HF) is known and can be a significant factor in the diagnosis and treatment.4,5 Even in patients without HF, BNP levels are a stronger predictor of death than traditional risk factors.6 AHA 2022 AHA/ACC/HFSA guidelines7 recommend the use of BNP as a biomarker for the prevention, initial diagnosis, and risk stratification of heart failure.
