Siemert et al., determined the potential of pre-therapeutic plasma vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels as biomarkers for outcomes in HNSCC and observed that patients with plasma VEGF < 26 ng/L had superior nodal, local and loco-regional control leading to significant prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) and event-free survival (72).
