IL-9 was found to stimulate the growth of Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) and support its functions (Gong et al., 2014; Ye et al., 2006), potentially resulting in enhanced gallbladder motility and decreased cholestasis, which helps to reduce the occurrence of gallbladder polyps (Vila et al., 2018). The gene discussed is IL9; the disease is cholestasis.
