TFEB and bacterial infectious disease: In physiological conditions, macrophage activation upon bacterial infections involves the NOX/PHOX (NADPH oxidase)‐dependent oxidative burst, which facilitates the nuclear translocation of TFEB through a ROS (reactive oxygen species)‐dependent mechanism, further influenced by CD38 and NAADP (nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate) (Fig. 2B).
