OXTR and Anxiety: Indeed, like in the case of OT/OTR KO mice, mice lacking MOPrs were recently proposed as a monogenic mouse model of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (Becker et al., 2014; Pantouli et al., 2024; Pellissier et al., 2018), as they exhibited deficits in social behaviour, ASD‐like stereotyped and perseverative behaviours, as well as increased aggressiveness, exacerbated anxiety (Becker et al., 2014; Pantouli et al., 2024) and lowered nociceptive thresholds (Gavériaux‐Ruff & Kieffer, 2002; Pantouli et al., 2024).
