The pivotal role of type I interferon signaling in orchestrating the immune response in COVID-19 is strongly supported by the finding that gene variations within the IFNAR2 gene, which is responsible for encoding the receptor subunit, and TYK2, which encodes the downstream kinase of the receptor, exhibit significant associations with COVID-19 severity, as indicated by GWAS [15]. This evidence concerns the gene TYK2 and COVID-19.
