MLKL and acute kidney injury: To elucidate whether the inhibitory effect of KW-2449 on necroptosis contributes to its activity in ferroptosis inhibition, we used MLKL-deficient mice to block cisplatin-induced necroptosis and found that loss of MLKL had no effect on cisplatin-induced production of 4-HNE and MDA (Fig. 1E–G), suggesting necroptosis and ferroptosis act independently in cisplatin-induced AKI.
