The observed negative correlations with miRNAs such as hsa-miR-30c-5p and hsa-miR-29b-3p suggest that these miRNAs may have tumor-suppressive functions, and their reduced expression, in combination with elevated PIGF levels, could promote tumor progression by enhancing angiogenesis and reducing immune cell infiltration (Kontomanolis et al., 2019; Orso et al., 2020).
