In an intention-to-treat analysis, GLP-1 agonist initiation was associated with a reduced risk of dementia compared to sulfonylureas (hazard ratio: 0.69, 95% CI: 0.60–0.79, p < 0.0001) and DPP-4 inhibitors (HR: 0.77, 95% CI: 0.68–0.88, p < 0.0001), after adjusting for age, enrollment year, sex, socioeconomic factors, health conditions, and past medication uses. This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and dementia.
