Despite this dichotomy, many studies have reported downregulation of lipolysis in the adipose tissue during different infection models, including during viral (SARS‐CoV‐2 [46]) and parasitic (Trypanosoma brucei [47]) infections, which was coupled with downregulation of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) and hormone‐sensitive lipase (HSL), two enzymes that are critical for lipolysis (Table 1).
