Whilst IL‐17 signalling is known to play a role in modulating adipose tissue structure and function during obesity [94], as well as modulating functions such as thermogenesis [23, 24], it remains unclear whether this is due to upregulation of the cognate IL‐17 receptors, or increased signalling through them. This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
