Nevertheless, the use of sLAG-3 as a prognostic factor is controversial, as elevated levels in patients’ serum have been associated with better prognosis in patients with gastric and breast cancers and with advanced disease, worse treatment-free survival and overall survival in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), hepatocellular carcinoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) [44, 47–51].
