Specifically, we observed a reduction in the expression levels of HERV-K, with statistically significant differences noted for -env (p = 0.01) (Fig. 1A), -gag (p = 0.02) (Fig. 1B), and -pol (p = 0.002) (Fig. 1C) suggesting a potential link between the altered expression of HERV-K genes and the pathophysiology of PD.
