The conformational flexibility of AMPs is considered to be crucial for their antibacterial potency.20–22 For example, in the case of magainin, reduced flexibility caused by the cyclization of the peptide results in reduced antimicrobial activity.23 Other studies showed that the conformational flexibility of α-helical antimicrobial peptides determines their anti-cancer and antimicrobial potency.21,22 Therefore, we expect that conformation plays an important role in the synergistic activity of AMPs.
