Systemic inflammatory markers of including C-reactive protein (CRP), albumin, neutrophil, lymphocyte, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR), Glasgow prognostic score (GPS), modified GPS (mGPS) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) are studied as an indicator of inflammatory response, to identify new prognostic factors for cancer [8–10]. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is cancer.
