SOD1 and cancer: In multivariable model 1, adjusting for age, (sex for the total cohort), current smoking status, alcohol use, physical activity, body mass index, SBP, and total cholesterol, we found significant associations between R-SOD activity and increased risk of cancer in the total cohort (HR, 1.63; 95% CI, 1.04–2.54; P = 0.034) and the men cohort (HR, 2.49; 95% CI, 1.35–4.61; P = 0.004), but not in the women cohort.
