Emerging laboratory work has discovered the role of circRNAs as miRNA “sponges.”9 CircRNAs can function as miRNA inhibitors to negatively modulate miRNA activity, thereby promoting downstream target activity.15 For instance, circ_100395 increases TCF21 expression to suppress lung cancer development by sequestering miR-1228.16 Circ_0000515 can aggravate cervical cancer progression by targeting the miR-326/ELK1 axis.17 Here, we demonstrate that circ_0008035 directly targets miR-429. The gene discussed is TCF21; the disease is cervical cancer.
