Well-established biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress in obesity and MetS are interleukins (interleukin-1, -6, -10, -18), adiponectin, resistin, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, leptin, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, angiotensinogen, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, myeloperoxidase, and E-selectin, among others [9,10] (Figure 1). This evidence concerns the gene MPO and obesity disorder.
