FLT3 and acute myeloid leukemia: FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3), a tyrosine kinase-type receptor expressed in hematopoietic progenitor cells [1,2], harbors internal tandem duplication (ITD) mutations (FLT3-ITDs) in its transmembrane domain, which are the most prevalent mutations occurring in approximately 20–30% of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
