Interestingly, despite using 50% less mistletoe extract than the M group, the AML group, when co-administered with the same amount of apple peel extract (A: 100 mg/kg + M: 100 mg/kg), showed a greater increase in the expression of genes related to muscle protein synthesis—S6K (protein synthesis), AKT (protein synthesis and degradation), and a great decrease in the MuRF1 (protein degradation) expression—compared to the groups that received the individual extracts alone at 200 mg/kg (A group or M group) (Figure 3e,g–h). This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and acute myeloid leukemia.
