Previous studies explored the association between a subset of markers related to coagulation and the incidence of type 2 diabetes, showing that coagulation factor (F) VIII, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, and activated partial thromboplastin time were associated with the risk of type 2 diabetes after adjustment for known major risk factors of type 2 diabetes [8–13]. Here, SERPINE1 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
