More recently, in two cell models of PD (SH-Sy5Y and SK-N-SH cell lines treated with MPP+ (1-Methyl-4-phenylpyridium)), resveratrol promoted autophagy as shown by the increase of the protein expression of Beclin-1 and LC3-II/LC3-I ratio, as well as the reduction in p62 levels; interestingly, the effects of resveratrol also reduced the expression of the lncRNA SNHG1 (small nucleolar RNA host gene 1), which positively regulates the SNCA gene that encodes for α-synuclein [117]. This evidence concerns the gene SNCA and Parkinson disease.
