In mice with doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy, where curcumin attenuated oxidative stress and inflammation, curcumin also restored the alterations in autophagy, as shown by increased levels of Beclin-1 and of the LC3II/LC3I ratio and by activation of the AKT/mTOR pathway [53]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and cardiomyopathy.
