BECN1 and ovarian carcinoma: Beclin-1 is monoallelically deleted in 40%–70% of human breast, prostate, and ovarian cancers (Liang et al., 1999; Qu et al., 2003; Karantza-Wadsworth et al., 2007; Saito et al., 1993), though biallelic mutations in Beclin-1 are rare in human tumors.
