We also observed a strong association between multiple sclerosis and BACH2 (rTWAS Z and joint Z = 5.5, rTWAS P and joint P = 4.8 x 10-8, rTWAS Bonferroni P = 4.0 x 10-4, PIP = 1.0), a gene encoding a transcription factor that regulates T helper (Th) 2 immune response, which moderates adaptive immune response against various allergens and infections, and has been implicated in this condition (Liu and Liu, 2022). Here, BACH2 is linked to multiple sclerosis.
