In humans, TSG101 (Vps23 in other organisms) has been considered an exosome marker (Anand et al., 2019) and Vps35 secretion in EVs has been used a malignant marker in cancer cells and in neurodegenerative diseases, where the EVs secretion is of great importance for intercellular communication and the prognosis of these diseases (Liu et al., 2012; Zhang et al., 2018; Ferraiuolo et al., 2020; Filippone et al., 2021b, 2021a; Walsh et al., 2021; Tan et al., 2022). Here, VPS35 is linked to neurodegenerative disease.
