The finding that thesebiomarkers persist two years postinfection raises the question ofwhether the proteins identified in this study, related to RNA biosynthesisand degradation, members of the conserved oligomeric Golgi (COG) complex,or even receptors such as SCARB2, or EPHA2 are modified as a consequenceof SARS-CoV-2 infection, or whether previously reduced or increasedconstitutive levels of these proteins in infected individuals playeda determinant role in their severity of response to the infection. This evidence concerns the gene SCARB2 and infection.
