Although the KEGG pathway “Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy” at first glance would seem unusual for a study investigating T cells in asthma, many of the highlighted genes include integrins (ITGB5, ITGA6), desmin (DES), endothelin (EDN1), and angiotensinogen (AGT) (Fig. 6C) that have all been implicated in asthma or airway remodeling [29, 34–37]. This evidence concerns the gene ITGB5 and asthma.
