In Parkinson’s Disease (PD), the number of MRI visible PVS has been found to correlate with both cognitive [12, 13] as well as motor symptom severity [14], gray and white matter microstructural alterations [15], dopamine transporter availability [11] and CSF α-synuclein and t-tau levels [16]. The gene discussed is SLC6A3; the disease is Parkinson disease.
