IFNG and typhoid fever: This study builds on our previous findings that MAIT subsets exhibiting distinct cytokine patterns (i.e., IFN-γ<συπ>+</sup> TNF-α<συπ>+</sup> IL-17A- positive cells) were associated with protection against typhoid fever (25), and that S. Typhi infection regulates changes in chromatin marks that depend on individual cell subsets.
