Our observation on the effects of teriflunomide is consistent with recent findings on its impact on mitochondrial DHODH, a regulator of neuronal activity in hippocampal networks, namely, teriflunomide is an inhibitor of DHODH that has been shown to suppress mean firing rates via synaptic and intrinsic excitability, and that ameliorated susceptibility to seizures in the Dravet syndrome epilepsy model.25 Here, DHODH is linked to Dravet syndrome.
