In a study performed by Abedinzadeh et al., the results showed that individuals having the IL-18 mutant homozygous genotype (−607C > A and −137G > C) showed a higher risk of developing prostate cancer than controls [16], showing that these results were consistent with the results of the present study as both studies were on Iranian populations. The gene discussed is IL18; the disease is Familial prostate cancer.
