UQCRC2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: Similarly, Zhang et al. found (Bingqing Yang and Qi, 2024) in their study of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease induced by a high-fat diet that the expression levels of NDUFB8 and UQCRC2, genes related to mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes, were significantly downregulated by the high-fat diet, and improved after drug treatment.
