The ROC indicated that VEGF-A and ANGPTL2 act as risk biomarkers for the prediction of proliferative diabetic retinopathy with an area under the curve of 0.86 (p-value<0.001) when compared with control (T2DM without DR) (Tables 6, 7) and found the optimal cut-off value with the best diagnostic performance. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
