To further detect Smad4 expression in fibrosis-related HCC, TMAs from 20 patients with HCC were used for immunohistochemical staining (Figure 1A), and approximately 10% of the cases were negative for Smad4, and 30% and 60% had low or high Smad4 expression respectively (Figure 1B).
