The hEC derived from CD34+ hematopoietic cells were then plated on the apical side of transwells and co-incubated with human brain pericytes that were plated on the other side of the transwell (basal side) 6 days before infection (Fig. 2A), allowing further differentiation of the hEC in human brain-like endothelial cells (hBLECs).
