When considering results of studies with a good‐ or medium‐ability to evaluate biomarkers for CRC screening, the most promising biomarkers are IL‐8 (AUC = 0.76) [77], MIC‐1 (AUC = 0.82) [32], YKL‐40 (AUC = 0.77) [51], FGF‐21 (AUC = 0.71) [75], TIMP‐1 (AUC = 0.70) [31, 64], MMP‐9 (AUC = 0.77) [103], adiponectin (AUC = 0.85) [110], sCD26 (AUC = 0.81) [33, 65], cystatin 4 (AUC = 0.77) [48] and histone 4 (AUC = 0.79) [70]. This evidence concerns the gene CHI3L1 and colorectal carcinoma.
