In cancer cells (such as breast, colon, and lung cancer), there is a tendency to uptake more lipids [73,74] and enhance de novo lipid synthesis to form more LDs through expressing more fatty acid synthase (e.g., acetyl-CoA synthetases (ACSS), Stearoyl-CoA Desaturase 1 (SCD1), ADRP/Perilipin 2, and ATP citrate lyase (ACLY)) [75,76,77,78,79]. Here, ACLY is linked to lung cancer.
