MMP12 and Alzheimer disease: A recent study by Guttman-Yassky et al. revealed that a 12-week treatment with abrocitinib, a Janus kinase 1-selective inhibitor, down-regulated the expression of several gene biomarkers, including MMP12 and S100A8, in patients with moderate-to-severe AD skin associated with inflammation, epidermal hyperplasia, and Th2 and Th22 immune responses, highlighting that genes found in our study have potential as biomarkers for monitoring and managing AD disease progression [39].
