C19orf53 and Obesity: Further studies of C19orf53 SNPs are required, primarily to analyze their associations with the risk of obesity and BMI, which will allow us to determine whether IS-related C19orf53 SNPs are characterized by pronounced horizontal pleiotropic effects on the development of both IS and obesity or whether their effect on IS is due to mediators’ effects, reflecting their influence on the risk of IS through excess body weight.
