Previous studies have identified more than 20 genes associated with the development of ALS, including Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1), TAR DNA binding protein-43 (TDP43), fused in sarcoma/translocated in liposarcoma (FUS), chromosome 9 open reading frame 72 (C9ORF72), and profilin 1 (PFN1). This evidence concerns the gene PFN1 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
