FOXM1 and neoplasm: Zhuang et al. examined genes related to “stemness,” a measure of how closely tumor cells resemble cancer stem cells, which differentiate primary versus metastatic disease, and identified that known transcription factor Forkhead Box M1 (FOXM1) and associated DNA glycosylase NEIL3 may contribute to metastasis and disease progression, building on past work identifying a miRNA-regulated metastasis pathway also involving FOXM1 [94,95,96,97,98].
